CDATA section is being treated as a markup

I did however manage to get my xml request working fine except for one thing, the cdata section in my xml response is stripped off "<" and ">". I checked the library and see no reference to cdata, although i think it should be treated as a string, shouldn't the ">" and "<" be escaped or rather ignored. I really would appreciate it, if you can at least give me a hint on how to get this working.
