a2ps 3.14 "printing of an .odt doesn't work"

Hello

I have a problem with a2ps I couldn't fix by using the advises on your 
website. Hope I didn't miss the suitable advise.

My OS: ubuntu 5.10
My Office: OpenOffice.org.1.9.129

I failed in trying to convert a .doc and also a .odt document into a .ps 
document. I couldn't print these files with a2ps either. The output was 
always a file or a huge amount of printed pages (about 70 instead of 4) 
full of undefineable signs. Just junk.

Some of the commands I tried:
a2ps documentname.odt -P file
a2ps documentname.odt

Hope you can help me.
