bdw-gc required?

Could there be a configure option to avoid the bdw-gc requirement? (Why
does a2ps need a garbage collector now?) It does not seem to be
packaged for any common distro, at least according to pkgs.org.
Perhaps the need for it and where to get it should be mentioned in the
README, or something. Sorry, I don't have the energy to compile it from
source right now, so can't go further. --best, karl.

P.S. The top-level FAQ file has no actual content. Might as well not
distribute it?
