First, an additional save and restore bracketing does no harm. But the
stopped approach fails on syntax errors caused by missing or misplaced
braces.

To prevent the PS interpreter to abort the job in such cases you need to
replace the errorhandler procedure in $errordict by your own procedure. As
$errordict is in local VM, this is subject to save and restore as well.

If you could specify what such a special errorhandler procedure should
report to CUPS, I could program and test one.
