Sorry for short comment.

I had a same problem in Ubuntu 12.04 with my HP Photosmart Wireless B110a
when I had connected via IPP, but Ubuntu also support HPLIP backend and
socket 9100 backend also, so now it works well via HPLIP backend.

I suggest that you'll try HPLIP backend instead of IPP.
