Hi,
I have trouble printing to my Brother MFC 2710 DW. It used to work, then
it printed multiple empty pages, and since a couple of days it just does
nothing. Here are the details:
* cups version 2.2.10-6+deb10u3 on Linux (Debian buster)
* Scanning via USB connection works, I have installed the proprietary
brscan stuff. I could not, however, find any proprietary printer
driver package that could be installed (only an i386 package, but
this is amd64)
* this installed stuff in /opt. There is also a ppd file for the
printer in /opt, but it has not been installed with dpkg (probably
with the installer script?)
* I have removed all instances of the printer, and then used the "Find
new printer" ("Neue Drucker suchen", actually) dialog to re-add it.
I chose the "Driver"
Brother MFC-L2710DW series, driverless, cups-filters 1.21.6
* The "find new printer" dialog found actually three instances, one is
on USB:
# grep -B1 DeviceURI /etc/cups/printers.conf
MakeModel Brother MFC-L2710DW series, driverless, cups-filters 1.21.6
DeviceURI
dnssd://Brother%20MFC-L2710DW%20series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=e3248000-80ce-11db-8000-3c2af45ce1b4
--
MakeModel Brother MFC-L2710DW series, driverless, cups-filters 1.21.6
DeviceURI ipp://BRW5CEA1DA1299E.local:631/ipp/print
--
MakeModel Brother MFC-L2710DW series, driverless, cups-filters 1.21.6
DeviceURI usb://Brother/MFC-L2710DW%20series?serial=E78295E8N123413
* When I try to print a test page, it does just "nothing".
* I set "LogLevel debug" in cupsd.conf, but this gives so much
information that I need help. There is one thing that looks weird to me:

D [09/Oct/2020:17:54:36 +0200] [Client 149] Waiting for CGI data.
A broken pipe looks bad.
Further information:
* The printer works fine from a MacBook
* there are similar problems from an Ubuntu PC
* relevant parts of the cups error log are attached.
Any help is appreciated!
Kind Regards and TIA, Frank
