spaces at least 'should' be percent encoded in URIs.
I think I vaguely remember that scpaces must be percent encoded
but currently I cannot find where that is specified.
In general: Spaces are usually percent encoded in URIs, cf.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percent-encoding

In particular vaules in bash scripts that contain characters
from $IFS call for problems.
