[cups] Brother MFC-5890CN not found

I've been trying to get my Brother MFC-5890CN printer working for the
last 8 months with only occasional momentary success, printer test
page printed after 8 hours trying to find a working setup, late at
night, get up and try - no print  "Brother_MFC-5890CN.local not found"
printer settings
ip: 192.168.10.110
name: BROTHER
ip address was changed from 192.168.0.110 after move to fit in with
ISP's settings in network termination unit for fibre to the curb
service
OS: Archlinux updated daily
cups version: 2.4.7
printer drivers unchanged since I had it working fully before moving house.
In storage july 2022 to feb 2023
After running system updates feb 2023 all I get is
"Brother_MFC-5890CN.local not found" or "MFC-5890CN.local".
I've tried to follow the cup 'documentation' but nothing changes but
the cups made-up name.
