pdf problem

Hi ,

     I have installed ghostscript version 7.04 on my linux machine. Now i am trying the page selection printing using the ghostscript. 

when I type gs <somefile.pdf> I am able to view the pdf file. But when try to redirect the output of the gs to some other file on the command line it gives error. 

On the command prompt I typed 
         gs -q -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=deskjet -sPAPAERSIZE=a4 -dFirstPage=2 -dLastPage=10 -sOutputFile=Output -

and I got the following error.

 /ioerror in --setfileposition --

What's the possible cause for this
