Many thanks for this hint!

Don't worry - I do all changes carefully step by step.

For now Ghostrscript 9.18rc1 without --disable-compile-inits
is only in the openSUSE development project "Printing", see
https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/Printing
in particular therein:
---------------------------------------------------------
The "Printing" development project may contain
new software or work-in-progress changes of
existing software that might neither be in
a stable state nor fit well into currently
installed systems.
---------------------------------------------------------

I know several openSUSE users have the "Printing"
development project enabled on their systems so that
they do beta-testing of our newest (crazy?) stuff.

After a few weeks packages from the development project
will get automatically forwarded into openSUSE Factory
where a few automated tests may happen (or not).

If no automated test fails, it will be forwarded
from openSUSE Factory into openSUSE Tumbleweed which
is our rolling release distribution of our newest stuff
that is intended for somewhat experienced users.

Nothing will reach unexperienced users all of a sudden.

FYI:
The next upcoming stable openSUSE release will be called
"openSUSE Leap 42.1", see
https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Leap
and it will not contain that newest hottest Ghostscript.

Kind regards and have a nice weekend!
