Well, I don't know what to say.

I've just done a dozen builds with your configure line and "make -j24"
(four core, hyperthreading i7 with a SSD) and every one completed
successfully.

More, the debug output from GNU make shows that make is considering
"obj/gconfig_.h" as a dependency for buliding base/gsromfs0.c

So I *really* don't understand what's going on here.
