Hello,

only some side notes - I didn't read all the postings

When you use Linux, use HPLIP for that device, it should "just work".

On
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/combined.html
the
"HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-one Printer"
points to
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/deskjet_aio/deskjet_2540_series.html
which reads (excerpt):
--------------------------------------------------------------------
APDK device class(es): Pyramid
HPLIP device sub-class(es): K10
--------------------------------------------------------------------
but on
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/tech_docs/device_classes.html
the device class "Pyramid" is not listed
so that it does not look promising that this printer device
actually supports a well known standard printing language, cf.
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Purchasing_a_Printer_and_Compatibility

Regarding undocumented device classes see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1553096
Zero response from HP since 2016-03-04 tells all.

Perhaps it is best to send that device back to HP
and buy a real PostScript(+PDF) printer.
Regarding PostScript+PDF see
"Common printing data formats" at
https://en.opensuse.org/Concepts_printing
and
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printer_buying_guide

On the other hand
http://www.verypdf.com/wordpress/201107/what-is-pcl3gui-format-1195.html
reads (excerpt):
--------------------------------------------------------------------
PCL3 is in fact a subset of PCL3GUI
--------------------------------------------------------------------
so that this printer device may work with a generic PCL3 driver.

> connected via WiFi network

First and foremost keep things simple and use a traditional
wired network connection (or USB) - i.e. anything that avoids
"another level of indirection" (cf. RFC 1925 item 6a),
see also "In case of wireless networking" in
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printing_via_TCP/IP_network

On
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/deskjet_aio/deskjet_2540_series.html
there is (excerpt):
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Network I/O Yes See note1.
...
1 Network support indicates built-in ethernet and/or wireless
networking. Alternatively, many devices may be operated on the
network using an external JetDirect print server. Not all network
configurations are supported. Please refer to the HPLIP FAQs
for more information.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
and "the HPLIP FAQs" contain under "Connectivity (I/O)"
the article "What network print servers are supported?"
http://hplipopensource.com/node/287
that reads:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
What network print servers are supported?
Answer:
Currently we have only tested HP JetDirect devices with HPLIP.
No other network print servers are supported.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I.e. only HP built-in network interfaces or
HP JetDirect print server boxes are "known to work"
with HP printer devices - anything else is luck.

Kind Regards
