Ever since going to OS X, I've been plagued with problems being able to print to any of the printers I have/had. For a long time, I had an Epson Stylus Photo 700 it worked great under OS 9. There was even a USB driver made for people that had it connected via USB to parallel adapter. However, Epson refused to port that USB driver over to OS X. I had to get rid of a perfectly functional photo printer. Next, my Deskjet 860C.. That too I had to get rid of because OS X wouldn't support it. Finally, I have a Deskjet 1600C with a network card in it. I came across Jim Derry's Network Printing guide.. And was able at last to get output. However, the output had a yellow background when printing graphics, which wouldn't do. So I downloaded Ghostscript 7.04 and compiled it. That worked, I was able to include the hp drivers for it and was finally getting the printing results I wanted. My mac crashed, and I had to reinstall software.. Now, I can't get GS 7.04 or above to compile without errors, so I had to use the 6.5.05 version of ghostscript. Supposedly it has support for this the deskjet 1600c.. But that only works if I select pjxl300.. This is the driver that prints yello backgrounds if I print a graphic, or from Microsoft Entourage. Is there any way to add the newer drivers that properly support the Deskjet 1600C into my current version of Ghostscript? Is there a uniprint driver for the deskjet 1600C? Can anyone help???
