Seems its a debian thang. See:-

I've removed the gnu! Longer term I will look at generating gnu.jpg which can
be imported "natively" by gropdf (no ImageMagik involvement). pnmtojpeg.

I'm currently finishing ChangeLog/commit messages, so should be committed
later today. Please make any improvements you see fit, I know where my
weaknesses lie (too succinct / inconsistent naming strategy / among others!)
so I'm more than happy for your help.

If you want to make "PDF Features" the default, it is just a 1 line change
(103), but some of the documentation will need adjusting.
