Nope, comment #1 is wrong.  I ran into a _different_ problem that was actually
breaking my builds, but proved to be due to a corrupted working copy.

This one might not never have been noticed by anyone or caused any real
problems, but it was an actual bug.

    * doc/doc.am (install-info-local): Clean out any existing Info files in
      `$(DESTDIR)/$(infodir)`, not `$(DESTDIR)/doc`.
