Thanks, I'll request you do it this time: while I'm sure the git
machinery isn't rocket science, it's a learning curve I don't have the
bandwidth to take on at the moment.

That sentence seems to want a qualifying adverb, based on
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?68502 -- perhaps "does not necessarily
emit output."  This is still a contrast to AT&T troff, which (absent
an error condition) always emits output.
