There are many methodologies that attempt to provide support for crosscutting concerns at the architectural level. Try looking through the AOSD web site, in particular the workshops - there is loads of work being done on early aspects! Software can fail for many, many reasons. However, linking software failure due to the lack of identification of crosscutting at the architectural level is probably going to be tricky as there are factors involved after that stage that can impact the final product. I guess this is what you are trying to do? One approach, if you wish to investigate it, may be to take a few case studies, apply a standard OO process and see what the outcome is. Then do the same taking a requirements / architectural / design / implementation AO combo and compare. If you have good traceability you might be able to discover how architectural crosscutting concerns impact software? Finding the correct AO combo to use may be a problem. Maybe I havent looked hard enough, but Ive seen little to no work being done to provide an AO software process that integrates the best of early aspects which is actually quite disappointing Regards, andrew > Hi all, > > I am investigating the idea of software failure linked to the effects of > crosscuts. > As an architecture concern how do early aspects-analysis address this > possibility? > I have already produced a paper "Identifying Transverse Software Failures" > that identifies the issue of crosscutting failure influences: > > DONISTHORPE, C.
