Companies involved??

Hello,
My name is Anuj Gupta, an MCA student. I want to persue a career in 
C/C++ oriented system programming and networking. So, i want to know 
the list of the major companies involved in this business, where i 
can make the best out of me and get a good exposure in this field. 
  Also i want to know about the environment i need to have for system 
programming in C/C++, like Operating system & Libraries.
  I expect to recieve the reply in the least possible time.
