Section III - Job Responsibilities and Team Information
Job Responsibilities & Expectations of Candidate (i.e., on-call/pager, % maintenance vs. development, etc.)
This position is for a Senior Developer on the Customer Funds Management (CFM) team. There is a significant amount of design and development
work to be done, of which you will be asked to make a substantial contribution.
The CFM project is currently in the Define phase. This is a great opportunity to join the project early on and make contributions to the overall
solution while the design is being laid out.
The majority of development will be C++ / CORBA based. Throughout the Design phase, you will be asked to help document the design
strategy in a way that can be clearly communicated. As part of your development responsibilities, you will build unit tests and help provide
integration testing before submitting the application to Software Assurance Testing (SAT). Throughout the project life cycle, your work will be expected to
adhere to the SWA Way Methodology standards.
Team information (i.e., size of Team, Team make-up, future projects, Team strengths/weaknesses)
The Customer Funds Management team currently consists of 8 individuals. We are a senior team with a substantial amount of experience both
in the airline industry and working with the existing portfolio of Technology applications. Currently, the bulk of our resources are analysts. As
we move out of the Define phase, we will ramp up the development resources. The goal of the CFM project is to become the single-source
system for all financial transactions used to pay for flights as well as other services and products provided by SWA. In future releases, we will
begin storing funds on a Customer by Customer basis in individualized accounts.
Our initial effort will convert existing paper Travel Vouchers and Gift Certificates to electronic forms of payment. These electronic forms of
payment will then be applicable to purchases at southwest.com as well as the station and reservations centers. Today, the paper forms of
payment are only applicable towards paper tickets sold at the station and Central Ticketing.
Ultimately, CFM will help facilitate reduced costs and generate incremental revenue while providing an enhanced Customer Experience by
offering greater convenience.
