Hi,

SNMP is Simple Network Management Protocol.
it is a protocol using which the network devices can
be monitored and controlled.
it is basically implemented as a client and server
kind of thing of which the SNMP server is installed on
the pc or the device which is used to control or
monitor and all the pc or the devices which are to the
monitored or controlled are installed with the SNMP
clients.
whenver we want to get the device or the pc
information we simply send a message to the SNMP
client of that pc or device and that device or the pc
responsdes. similaly in the case when we want to
control the device also.

this is the only basic understanding of the protocol
and for more information try net or google for it.
a lot of implemenations are avaibale in different
languages. u can get it on the net.
