I've been pushed out of several jobs. In many of these jobs I had
chosen to be outspoken with my opinions, even the ones that were
controversial. Now, even if I was *certain* that the latter was a
cause of the former, I think I would still prefer to say what I
think, rather than hide my opinions to keep the job.

The things I believe aren't even so extreme when I think about them:
- I'm not so smart that working with someone else won't improve my
work;
- I'm not so smart that I can't find ways to improve my design after
I have coded it;
- I'm smart enough to make estimates for how long my own work is
going to take;
- I'm unwilling to accept someone else's estimate of how long my work
will take, but willing to take responsibility for mine;
- code which I test thoroughly and often works better than code which
I don't test as much;
- I get better results from people I "manage" when they feel invited
to collaborate and not pressured to perform;
- I understand what customers want much better when I can talk with
them to verify my understanding.

These are only things I believe about myself. It *may* be the case
that if many people believed that of themselves, a revolution would
ensue; and it *may* be the case that, as a consequence, voicing these
beliefs got me pushed out of some jobs. If that is so, I don't
believe I lost anything of value by losing these jobs.
