Glen, OK, I was making a point. Fact is, I've done very well personally in terms of the rapport I have had with management and the coaching I've received. I did have a very bad experience with a manager on a recent engagement, but even there, my own personal relationship with him remained quite collegial. But... There has never been a time when I didn't count myself lucky for having this rapport. There were always others around who did not get it and who kept telling me I was lucky. Here's my theory. In many organizations, collegiality, support and mentoring is extended to those in the management team and doesn't go any farther than that. I think it's related to the tendency that some have to see "staff" as a replaceable commodity. I'd like to change that. > Just came from our lunch time round table.
