Let's put it differently.  Large organisations usually have long histories.
In this history they have encountered many people who have promised them:
- higher efficiency (doing the same with less)
- higher productivity (doing more with the same)
- higher effectiveness (doing better with the same)

Usually it all seemed very straightforward, easy to do, intelligent and all
too often the benefits just were not realised at the end of the day.

So in the light of the failures of yesterday, organisation may have become
slow adopters.

But I don't agree that these organisations need academic studies or
test-tubes.  What they need are facts and they will accept facts from
industry, academy and test-tubes combined with proof-of-concept/pilot
projects.

Are you dismissing academic studies or test-tube approaches?
