Aren't the numbers always approximations, and known to be? Or are they
just
approximations and NOT known to be?

 

When you're doing this kind of analysis, the numbers are approximations
but assumed to be true. In fact, you are comparing your performance
against the approximations (continuing to believe your approximations),
rather than changing the approximations based on the actuals, as XP
does. IMHO, this stuff is exactly what XP preaches against. Dan  ;-)
