Good question.  I am not trying to convince them.  I have neither the 
desire nor the time to spend with people who can only see the 
problems with XP and none of the opprotunities or possibilities.

However, these are real people functioning at a high level in many 
programming environments (or at least I imagine they are).  Their 
successes on teams and experience gives them a lot of authority on 
teams wanting to adopt XP or other Agile process.  I imagine their 
objections can seriously impede or undermine good natured attempts 
for improvement.  Is it enough to simply ignore these people and put 
them in a part of the project where they can do no harm?  

I suspect you cannot, but I really don't know.  That is why I am 
asking.
