I originally sent this to the XP list.

Selling an agile approach can be tough when the manufacturing analogy
is being repeatedly pushed at decision makers through a variety of
channels.

Anyone have any strategies for combatting this fantasy? *We* know
software development isn't manufacturing. But how can we best
address this issue with management or potential clients who believe
otherwise? Especially when they're being led to believe otherwise by
the SEI, and large consulting firms & defense contractors?

(Is this more appropriate for the XP-Adoption list?)
