I don't know. I do know that when we would breakdown stories into smaller "substories" (or use-cases into sub-usecases) we would still keep track of the subordinate relationship between the "hi-level story" and the smaller "pages" and "chapters" because we had multiple levels of "Customers" requiring BVCs at different levels of granularity and he had to be able to show the breakdown relationship between them partly because the higher-level customer cared more about the high-level story, and because we used info about how many "substories" a story got broken into to help us improve our estimation accuracy (velocity would be measured against the lowest-level stories for us)
