I don't know if this approach will work for you, but in general I
don't approach clients with a solution in my pocket and then try to
sell them on it. Instead, I ask them what their issues are, and I try
to couch that in terms of how they think they need to operate vs. how
they operate today, so we can identify gaps. Then we start to work
through practical changes that might move the organization closer to
their desired operating state. Often, that results in XP and other
named "things" falling out naturally as experiments to try. The
buzzwords turn people off. The substance doesn't.

I've found that when someone demands a "study" or "proof" or
"evidence" that a suggested change will be effective, they never
looked for such evidence when they decided to work in the way they
currently do. They just sort of fell into their current way of working
over the course of years with no larger goal than just trying to
survive work one day at a time. When they demand "studies" and so
forth, they're really saying, "Leave me alone, I'm busy." So, my
advice is *never* start with a named "thing" and try to sell it.
