To add my bit to the discussion I asked for, the only good trick I know
is the well-known one of looking for pain points and addressing them;
works pretty well in persuading both managers and co-workers, and it's
pretty hard to be offensive when relieving someone's pain.

(No claim at all of originality on my part; that's one of the things
that XP explained taught me.)

Speaking just for me, I don't think I have Linux blinders on my
eyes. I can see other platforms, but I *choose* to ignore them on the
theory that if I ignore them hard enough they will go away.

This theory is obviously crazy. However, it also appears to be working.
