gc test cases

Dear Reena -- We (the DaCapo project team) have been particular concerned
about this issue, and developed the DaCapo GC Benchmark Suite, available at:

http://ali-www.cs.umass.edu/DaCapo/gcbm.html

While in a global sense this is still a work in progress, there is stable
code there. Please do check out the instructions -- some of the programs
require certain other packages, etc.
