Yeah, and I actually read part of it just before replying in the first 
place, probably because of a reference from your mag.

So, how did the term get established? Back in the day, I would make 
something and it would get called just an evil weirdo API, and then two 
years later, someone else would make the same thing and it would get 
called an internal DSL. So I was like, whatev, and I just continued 
calling my APIs just APIs or something. But over five years later, the 
word hasn't just gone away, so, I figure out, I may as well ask why it 
exists and what it's for...
