At least for reference you ought to get a copy of Stroustrup's The C++ 
Programming Language. For good style everything from Scott Meyers and 
Herb Sutter. I particularly recommend Meyers's Effective C++ and Sutter 
and Alexandrescu's C++ Coding Standards.
