In part that can be understood. Many magazines are so expensive (and so
are many peer groups, at least here) that for individuals the cost is
often excessive (I'm not going to pay several hundred Euro a year to join
a group that may meet twice a year and might have something of interest
for me to discuss on less than half those occasions, just because it looks
nice on my resume for example).
