BIG-IP v10 (recently released) supports overlapping IPs.

Hello all.

Cisco ACE (4710 and service module for catalyst 6500) implement virtual context, so as each context has it's own routing table, you can have IP overlapping with no problem. As I know it's the only product on the market which supports this feature.

I know it's supposed to come soon in Big-IP (F5), Citrix has a virtualization support (within a single unit) coming in CY09, I'm sure other vendors will follow.

regards,

Surya

Hi List,
I understand that the data centers are becoming VDCs( Virtual Data centers). Virtualization is becoming
important to implement cloud data centers. In a typical cloud data centers, there would be several subscribers hosting
their servers/services in the cloud. I believe those subscribers will be given freedom to choose their own IPs for the servers.
In such case, there is a chance of IP address clash. How do the data centers manage the IPs?

Did any one implemented a solution with load balancers in the above cases? I believe, soon Load balancers should
be tuned to solve similar cases that arise in virtual data centers.

Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Ravi Chunduru
