while i really appreciate the operational content of this mailing list as
well as a frank and thorough discussion of the products available in the
load-balancing arena, the fluff:content ratio is becoming discouragingly
high. advertising whenever your product is mentioned on the list (instead
of off-list talk about the relative merits, or on-list inquiries about
technically specific configuration examples and benefits) is becoming the
norm. take this as you will.

note: long-time subscriber, but i mostly reply off-list. apologies for
adding to the N side of the SNR.

It is always good to hear real user feedback and experiences.

The Zeus ZXTM software provides an impressive range of traffic management
features and functionality, is intuitive with an easy to use interface and
will run on any server hardware platform.

In brief I would highlight
      · Zeus is software and can be deployed on the platform of a
customer’s choice. The ROI is demonstrably better
      http://www.zeus.com/news/press_articles/zeus-price-performance-press-release.html
      · Zeus scales easier, up to 64 in a cluster, with performance
doubling as you add another ZXTM into a cluster, all one needs is a
      license key!
      · Zeus tends to be much easier to deploy – the market tells
us that the ZXTM GUI interface is easy to navigate, and the setting
up of traffic managers is easy
      http://www.zeus.com/documents/en/WE/WEB_ITV_CS.pdf
      · Zeus support is very strong, based out of the UK 24/7

Why not download the ZXTM desktop Editon? You can download The ZXTM Desktop
Edition is a simple virtual appliance containing the ZXTM software and a
simple cluster of webservers. This edition includes sample scenarios -

Subject: Re: [load balancing] Zeus ZXTM?

We replaced our F5 6800's for two intel dual quads with 32g ram and 10g
ethernet running ZXTM. F5 was lacking in performance on large file
downloads and was having a very very hard time pushing 1+Gbps even with
F5's engineers trying to figure out how to make it better.

We have been very pleased with Zeus's performance and have been very happy
to make the change over to ZXTM and would HIGHLY recommend it. Your making
a software investment which you can move to bigger/better servers and not
one into a paperweight since the F5 is a hardware appliance you are limited
to the functionality it handles.

I tested Zeus ZXTM and it worked well for me, and it can do pretty much
everything an F5 LTM will do and had something that had basic iRules
functionality.

But a new F5 BIG-IP 1600 is under $20k, so ZXTM won't really save you much
money (based on the last time I got prices out of them).

Vince

Hi – has anyone any experience, good or bad of using Zeus ZXTMor ZXTM LB?
We almost exclusively use F5 LTM’s at present and have been asked to look
at Zeus as an alternative for some setups.

Thanks – Julian.
