It depends on many criteria (network topology, SLAs, how bloated is your network etc...). The most important is how many users would be running the application... your network depending on its setup may only serve an X factor of users at one time on 100mbps while X+Y (much more) on 1Gbps... it is all relative. I suggest, you first evaluate how many Bps are used on a single instance and go on from there.
