May I ask how this statement relates to your other statements about separation of concerns,
5,000 line JSP pages etc?  If the people paying for the system can't tell the difference
between a well-factored and elegant design and a Big Ball of Mud, is one really better than
the other as far as they're concerned?  Aren't we too focussed on "invisible" technical issues
and not on business results?  How do we know that we've got the business results we wanted and
how do we know that the software system provided those results?  Perception is far more
important than techies realise.
