Help required for a research study at MIT

Hi,

I am a student at MIT, researching on the relationship between product architecture and maintenance costs. I am looking for a few projects in the open source domain where there have been some refactoring. Essentially, I am looking for the code base and defect/effort data, pre and post refactoring.

Could you please help me by suggesting projects that you might have heard about any refactoring efforts or guide me to people/forums who can help me?
