If it is considered that a programming language is 'better' for having
removed all strictly unnecessary code constructs, then languages like
'Brainfuck' would be the pinnacle of all programming languages, having
only 8 instructions and absolutely no redundant constructs.

BF doesn't even have an 'if' construct at all, only a 'while'
construct. 'if' statements must be formulated in terms of a while
loop that either executes once or not at all.
