I was a software engineer for more than 26 years before I shifted to be a
full time coach several years ago.

Code reviews can be done well. I have been part teams that did them well.
And, in my experience, the best performed code review systems are not as
good as pair programming, TDD and such for achieving the results code
reviews are intended to achieve.
