Where science focuses natural phenomenon, bookkeeping focuses intellectual phenomenon, which the Chines name "dao." Science versus art is typical of yin versus yang: science, as yin, tests its truth objectively, as a measure of phenomenon; art, as yang, tests its truth subjectively, as an expression of knowledge.
