Under ASCII, 'A' is an object. But in ISO-8859-7, GREEK SMALL LETTER SIGMA and GREEK SMALL LETTER FINAL SIGMA are the same object, so string comparisons work. Under UTF-8, 'A' is still an object, but all of "" is one object. Of course under UTF-16 surrogates all form one object. But not only glyphs are objects. Accents are objects too, so an ISO Latin 8859-1 'ö' (\xF6) is two little objects. Vowel signs are objects. And a ligature between two glyphs is an object. I have always figured spaces should be objects, but is an optionally breaking zero-width space an object? Maybe it's a NullObject! Hours of fun! ===== Phlip http://industrialxp.org/community/bin/view/Main/TestFirstUserInterfaces __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo!
