Something I've noticed recently is that there are a lot of good ideas out
there for extensions and different behaviors. I know there are too many
to roll into the core of FIT implementations, but it would still be great
to collect them and keep with the fit sourceforge project and website.

One possible technique for organizing these good non-core contributions
is to set up a contrib space in the project. Sometimes called a sandbox,
it's a great way for free software projects to allow the community to
participate while still maintaining a carefully guided direction for
the core.

I'd like to start by suggesting I give over the hosting and maintenance
of my own AntFit to the FIT project, rather than maintaining my own
repository and website. Other good FIT-related code I've seen include some
dotnet extensions, the Perl Test::FIT modules, and fitnesse.

Software can potentially be accepted into the contrib sub-project even
though it may go outside and beyond the needs and goals of the core
FIT framework.
