CALL FOR STUDENTS: Google Summer of Code

We've been accepted as a mentor organization for the Google Summer of  
Code.  Hooray!  Now let's get to work.

The thing that makes the summer of code successful is students.  We  
need to get as many students as possible to look at SCons.  Even if  
they end up not applying to SCons, the Summer of Code is a terrific  
thing thing and they could find another project.

If you have access to students, let them know about the Summer of  
Code.  If you are in some other mailing list, or you can post to  
somewhere that students might see, say something about SCons and the  
Summer of Code.

If you have input to a web site, get the information out there.  We  
have a web site, Google has a web site, there are lots of referral  
locations.  The more students that look at our pages, the better we  
will be.

Students can begin applying on 24 March, but don't wait until then to  
begin telling students about SCons.  If they're interested in us,  
they can start preparing their proposal now.

I've contacted my alma matter and I'll be papering their CS and IT  
departments with announcements (and possibly even giving a little  
talk).  My alma matter happens to be local, but you can do the same  
thing with any schools in your area.  It only takes a phone call.

Whatever you can do, drop a note to scons-users and let us know so we  
can coordinate what we're doing.
