I had that problem the other day, until I remembered to set
my environment propertly: CVS_RSH=/usr/bin/ssh. Perhaps that's
your problem, perhaps not.

I, too, spent some time on anygui recently, specifically to
test text/cursesgui. It's 100% broken, apparently due to the
removal of DummyWidget, and I haven't had time to look into
fixing yet. Perhaps this weekend.
