Just had a look at tkgui. The only problem with test_frame seemed to be the sunken border (which e.g. wxgui doesn't have), so I commented that out. (An optional feature, perhaps?) I also rechecked test_place, and couldn't find anything wrong. So, as far as I can see, tkgui and wxgui are basically good to go.
