The TextArea selection bug is fixed in CVS.  I haven't seen any problems with 
RadioButton.

Yep.  Sounds good.  From trying to understand the code in a couple of backends 
it seems that the backends are about as simple as they're going to get.  The 
performance issues may well require front-end fixes.  Continuous events such 
as resizing may need a more sophisticated approach.  In particular, resizes 
should probably behave a little more lazily.
