Not sure what you mean here. The request was to close the list to
outside posters. Are you saying that that is not possible? The
following is available in the config interface:

Restrict posting privilege to list members? (member_posting_only)
[Yes/No]

I still don't quite understand what you mean. If the list were closed,
it would certainly be possible for spammers to subscribe to the list,
but that's not a very likely course of events. Any mail sent by
non-subscribers would simply bounce.

I'm sure I'm just being dense, but I don't understand the link between
what you're saying here and the issue at hand...

Also, FYI, SourceForge has spam filters in place, and I bet they take
care of a lot of spam. Of all the spam I receive each day (*lots!*),
hardly anything comes from SourceForge lists.
