my 2cents - slack works fine for devs.  But it's going to break down if you
try to open it up to the public because it is not very searchable (slack
will also charge you for long-term storage).
Plus you are going to miss a ton of content from users if you are not
checking your slack constantly ...

If you want to open up a conversation with users, I recommend discourse.
Questions are easier to search for, you can hashtag posts, assign users, ...
Checkout the pytorch discourse <https://discuss.pytorch.org/> for example.
