I had trouble applying the second patch so I manually-ish applied it (preserved the commit history) and tweaked some of the code to reduce unnecessary indentations and branching. I agree with your analysis, and all the tests check out so this should roll when I package up Cheetah v2.4.1 in a few days. Thanks :D Cheers, -R.
